How much pizza for a kids' party
Plan on 2 slices for each child and 3 for each grown-up. A large pizza has 8 slices. Add up the slices, divide by 8, and round up.
The rule
Large pizzas = (kids × 2 + adults × 3) ÷ 8, rounded up. It's the same rule your Festidi plan uses, and it updates as replies come in.
Most kids ages 4 to 10 eat one or two slices at a party, because they're busy playing. Teenagers and adults eat closer to three. Rounding up leaves a little extra, which is what you want: leftover pizza freezes well, and running out doesn't.
Drop-off party: kids only
When parents drop off and leave, count only the kids.
| Kids | Large pizzas |
|---|---|
| 6 | 2 |
| 8 | 2 |
| 10 | 3 |
| 12 | 3 |
| 15 | 4 |
| 20 | 5 |
| 25 | 7 |
| 30 | 8 |
Kids and parents
For younger kids, parents usually stay, and they eat too. If you only know the total, Festidi assumes about 6 in 10 guests are kids and the rest are adults.
| Guests | Kids | Adults | Large pizzas |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 6 | 4 | 3 |
| 15 | 9 | 6 | 5 |
| 20 | 12 | 8 | 6 |
| 25 | 15 | 10 | 8 |
| 30 | 18 | 12 | 9 |
| 40 | 24 | 16 | 12 |
| 50 | 30 | 20 | 15 |
Tips that save money and stress
- Order for a set time. Ask for delivery about 15 minutes before you plan to serve, or pick it up yourself. Food works best about an hour into a two-hour party, after the first game.
- Keep toppings simple. Most kids pick cheese. A split of about half cheese, a quarter pepperoni, and a quarter of something for the grown-ups covers most groups.
- Ask about allergies first. Put a line on the invitation, then keep one safe option ready (for example, a gluten-free or dairy-free pizza ordered separately and kept apart).
- Fill in around the pizza. A fruit tray and a veggie tray stretch the pizza and give kids something to graze on.
Let Festidi count the slices
Add your guest count and Festidi works out pizzas, drinks, ice, and plates, then updates them as RSVPs come in.
